The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to The Outdoor Foundation for the Challenge Cost Share program. The goal of this program is to provide a vehicle to attract non-federal dollars to match National Park Service dollars supporting mission-related projects that align with goals of local project partners. The program aims to reach out to a broad audience of qualified organizations to identify and fund projects that benefit national parks, national trails, and wild and scenic rivers. The recipient will be responsible for executing project agreements with selected partners, tracking and supporting Challenge Cost Share projects, and providing written and graphic documentation of project results.
• The program will support projects that provide access to outdoor recreation opportunities, support DOI infrastructure needs, raise awareness and encourage visitation to lesser-known NPS sites, build partnerships with local and gateway communities, expand recreational opportunities, and address NPS deferred maintenance backlog.
• The award amount is anticipated to be $386,000, with a non-federal cost share of $5,000, for a total award amount of $391,000.
• The project will be funded for Fiscal Year 2020.
• The National Park Service will provide funding to stimulate and support these activities, and will work with the recipient to verify, review, award, and report on project funding.
