The Foreign Market Development Cooperator Program is designed to maintain and develop foreign markets for United States agricultural commodities and products through cost-share assistance. The program provides funding to eligible nonprofit U.S. agricultural trade organizations to share the cost of certain overseas marketing and promotion activities. The program aims to support the strategic decision-making initiatives of the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) of 1993 and to fund applicants who can best demonstrate performance and address USDA and FAS goals and objectives. Key activities include market research, trade shows, and advertising.
* Eligible commodities: all U.S. agricultural commodities except tobacco
* Eligible activities: generic marketing and promotion activities that do not involve promotions targeted directly to consumers
* Funding priority: organizations with the broadest producer representation and affiliated industry participation of the commodity being promoted
* Cost-sharing: applicants must contribute at least 50 percent of the value of resources reimbursed by CCC for activities conducted under the agreement
