The U.S. Department of Energy’s Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office (HGEO) is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) to gauge private‑capital interest in developing and commercializing subsurface‑energy technologies across coal, oil & gas, and geothermal sectors. The RFI seeks feedback from investors, venture capital firms, financial institutions, as well as technology developers, incubators, and research organizations on topics such as modular LNG components, mid‑stream sensors, produced‑water treatment, advanced drilling, geothermal reservoir characterization, coal‑plant modernization, and related emissions‑control solutions. No funding is offered; responses are purely informational and must be submitted electronically by 5:00 PM ET on 5 Oct 2026, limited to 10 pages in Word format.
