The National Park Service intends to award a single-source justified cooperative agreement to Texas Conservation Corps for the project "Completing Park Facility Projects and Engaging Texas Deaf/Hard." The project aims to promote community involvement and environmental stewardship among Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) youth. The recipient will hire an individual to liaise between the National Park Service and the local DHH school, plan community days of service, and organize an ASL Inclusion Crew Summit. The project will also provide opportunities for DHH community members to learn about the environment and participate in conservation projects. Key aspects of the project include:
• Recruitment and selection of crew leaders and participants from the Texas School for the Deaf
• Planning and implementation of community days of service and conservation projects
• Provision of training and orientation to project participants
• Coordination with individual park units to finalize a written, joint operational plan for on-site project work and programming
• Management of recruitment and selection of crew leaders and crew participants to ensure diversity and representation of the host parks' gateway communities
