The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified cooperative agreement to improve trail signage and remove graffiti at Joshua Tree National Park. The project aims to provide improved signs at the Black Rock area visitor center and campground and remove persistent and highly visible graffiti in areas frequented by park visitors. The selected intern will design, fabricate, and assist with the installation of approximately 220 replacement signs and learn best practices for graffiti removal.
Key aspects of the project include:
• Design, fabrication, and installation of new signs
• Removal of graffiti in high-traffic areas
• Training and mentorship provided by NPS staff
• Collaboration with NPS employees and leading small groups of volunteers
• Gaining valuable work experience in public lands management
