The City of Fort Myers is seeking a qualified contractor to construct a 1.83‑mile shared‑use trail extension (John Yarbrough Linear Park Phase IV) that includes a 912‑ft multi‑span prestressed‑concrete bridge over Colonial Boulevard (SR 886) and a 139‑ft prefabricated steel bridge over the Ten‑Mile Canal. The scope covers all civil works (grading, drainage, asphalt paving, sidewalks, signage, markings), bridge substructure and superstructure, installation of architectural bridge aesthetics, mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls, handrails, and rip‑rap bank stabilization. The project requires the contractor to coordinate with a sole‑source truss fabricator (Contech Engineered Solutions) and to incorporate a city‑set price for truss and aesthetic materials, providing only installation costs in the bid. The contractor must hold an active FDOT pre‑qualification for Intermediate Bridges (Class 17) and self‑perform at least 40 % of the work.
