Description

The City of Seattle is soliciting bids to establish multiple contracts with interested and qualified vendors to supply water treatment chemicals on an “as-needed” basis for a multi-year period. The City requires chemical supplies for use at multiple locations, primarily Seattle Public Utilities water treatment facilities. The successful bidder(s) will be responsible for supply, transport, and delivery of the chemicals to the facilities in a safe and secure manner as defined in the specifications. The contract term is five years, with one two-year extension allowed at the option of the City. • The City anticipates spending approximately $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 annually for the chemicals being purchased through this solicitation. • Vendors must have a minimum of 3 years of experience producing chemicals that meet standards set forth by the American Water Works Association for the water treatment chemicals they are bidding on in this solicitation. • Vendors must have a minimum of 3 years of experience safely transporting chemicals in compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations. • The City has collective bargaining agreements which govern City utilization of Vendors to perform services and require departments to notify the union before contracting for services. • The City will consider the tax revenues derived by the City from its business and occupation, utility, sales, and use taxes from the proposed purchase when determining the lowest and best bid.

Budget estimate

$1,000,000 – $5,000,000

The City anticipates spending approximately $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 annually for the chemicals being purchased through this solicitation. This estimate is based on the City's historical spending on water treatment chemicals and the current market prices for these chemicals. The actual budget may vary depending on the prices bid by the vendors and the quantities of chemicals purchased. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the number of contracts awarded, the prices bid by the vendors, and the quantities of chemicals purchased.
