The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is seeking a contractor to enhance FAALCAn, a web-based Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tool for airports. The tool quantifies energy use, local aggregate resource consumption, and environmental impacts from pavement construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and end-of-life stages. The contractor will be responsible for expanding FAALCAn's reporting capabilities, integrating it with other FAA tools, and developing a comprehensive user training program. The project aims to promote energy and resource conservation, as well as cost-effective airfield infrastructure planning.
Key tasks include:
• Expanding FAALCAn's reporting capabilities to track domestic aggregate resource use and recycled material consumption
• Integrating FAALCAn with FAARFIELD and AIRCOST to enable seamless data exchange
• Developing a database of domestic supply chains and energy sources
• Creating a Section 508 compliant training program for FAALCAn
The contractor will be required to provide quarterly and annual reports, as well as a final report with an executive summary slide deck. The project has a period of performance of 24 months, and travel will be reimbursed on a cost-reimbursable basis.
