The USAID/Kenya and East Africa (KEA) is seeking information on distance learning solutions to improve reading and social and emotional skills for students in grades 1-3 in Kenya. The goal is to implement digital/online distance learning with support from the private sector to improve reading and social and emotional skills while strengthening local capacity to support and manage distance learning. The activity will aim to bridge the digital divide and lack of internet connectivity in schools and communities, and will have a unique focus on embedding caregivers and teachers with the knowledge, skills, and training to support learners in their homes.
Some key points to consider include:
• Low-cost, sustainable provision of connectivity, particularly in remote areas
• Appropriate modality to deliver reading and social and emotional skills content
• User-friendly, low-maintenance hardware to deliver literacy and SEL content
• Strengthening of partnerships/local systems to support regular use of digital strategies
• Innovative options for internet connectivity, distance learning modality, and hardware requirements
• Partnership models to implement and build capacity around a strong digital teaching/learning strategy
