Description

Anderson Regional Joint Water System is seeking sealed bids to perform an Alum Sludge Dredging project at its water‑treatment plant lagoons. The contractor must supply NSF‑certified materials, equipment, and labor to excavate approximately 450 dry tons of alum‑laden sludge, dewater the material, and transport it to the Anderson Regional Landfill for disposal (the owner will cover landfill fees). Daily representative samples of the dewatered solids must be delivered to the owner for analysis. This is a one‑time, material‑handling and disposal effort requiring expertise in dredging, dewatering, and compliance with water‑treatment standards. • Scope: Dredge ~450 dry tons of alum sludge, dewater, and transport to designated landfill. • Requirements: Use NSF‑certified equipment/materials; provide daily sample to owner; owner pays landfill disposal fees. • Timeline: Bids due July 2, 2026 (2:00 pm); work to be performed after award (date not specified).

Budget estimate

$70,000 – $110,000

Based on industry benchmarks, dredging and dewatering of alum sludge typically runs about $150‑$200 per dry ton when including equipment, labor, and transport (the client would not bear landfill disposal fees, as the owner pays those). For 450 dry tons, the total contract value is estimated between $67,500 and $90,000. Adding contingencies for specialized NSF‑certified equipment and sampling requirements could push the high end to roughly $110,000. Thus, a reasonable expected earnings range is $70k‑$110k.
