Lease of Tires

The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is seeking bids for a Tire Lease Contract. The contract will be for an 8-year term and will require the contractor to provide new radial tires manufactured to be suitable for city-type passenger transit service. The contractor will also be responsible for maintaining and servicing the tires, including inspecting and recording tread depth, checking air pressure, and removing and replacing tires as necessary. The RTA operates a fleet of 258 buses, including transit buses, trolley buses, and paratransit buses, and the contractor will need to provide tires for these vehicles. The contract will also require the contractor to provide service personnel to work on the RTA's premises. Some key points to note include: • The contractor must provide new radial tires with a minimum of 14 ply for heavy-duty transit buses and comply with OEM recommendations for medium-duty paratransit buses. • The contractor must maintain a sufficient supply of mounted tires to guarantee continuity of service and availability of tires when needed. • The contractor must inspect and record the tread depth of each tire installed on a coach at least once per month and check each tire's air pressure at least two times per month. • The contractor must provide all necessary equipment, including tire changers, lifters, and spreaders, to properly service and maintain the tires. • The RTA will provide safe and suitable indoor space for storage and servicing of tires furnished under the contract. The RTA is looking for a contractor who can provide high-quality tires and excellent service to support its fleet of buses.
