Description

The Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) – Overdose Response provides grant funding to entities that can deliver substance‑use‑disorder services in HRSA‑designated rural counties and census tracts. The goal is to reduce overdose risk and improve health‑care capacity in underserved rural areas. Up to 35 awards will be made, each capped at $300,000, with a total estimated funding pool of $10.5 million. Eligible applicants include public, private, nonprofit, for‑profit, tribal, and local government entities. Funding may support staffing, training, medication‑assisted treatment, naloxone distribution, data collection, and other short‑term overdose‑prevention activities. Applications are submitted electronically by 11:59 p.m. ET on March 10, 2027, with award decisions expected August 1, 2027 and project start anticipated September 1, 2027. • Nationwide focus on HRSA‑designated rural counties/census tracts. • Up to 35 grants, each $300,000 (award floor = ceiling). • Eligible entities: governments, NGOs, tribal organizations, schools, private firms, etc. • Funding can be used for overdose‑prevention services, training, naloxone, data systems, and related short‑term activities. • Application deadline: 03/10/2027; award announcement: 08/01/2027; project start: 09/01/2027.

Budget estimate

$300,000

The program earmarks $10,500,000 in total funding and sets both the award floor and ceiling at $300,000 per award. With 35 awards anticipated, each successful applicant can expect a single‑award amount of $300,000. The actual spend will depend on the scope of services proposed (e.g., staffing, naloxone purchase, training, data systems). Because the award amount is fixed, the budget range for any one award is essentially $300,000.
