The LWCF State and Local Assistance Program provides funding to states to develop or update their Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) or supporting elements of it. The program is operated by the National Park Service in partnership with designated lead agencies in each state. To be eligible, states must have a current SCORP in place that assesses demand and need for outdoor recreation resources and sets priorities for the use of LWCF funds. The program supports priorities of the Secretary of the Interior, including Executive Order 14008: Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, and EO 13985: Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government.
