The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources is offering a grant program to support state entities in decarbonizing building systems and equipment. Funding up to $2.45 million is available on a first‑come‑first‑served basis for projects that replace oil, gas, or electric‑resistance heating, water‑heating, commercial kitchen gear, or landscape equipment with electrified or high‑efficiency alternatives. Applicants must submit a Statement of Interest, obtain vendor quotes, and comply with performance standards (ENERGY STAR, APS) and federal Build America, Buy America requirements where applicable. The program includes additional “Climate & Economic Justice” and “Pollinator Habitat” adders for projects in disadvantaged communities.
• Eligible project categories: space‑heating, service water heating, commercial kitchen equipment, battery‑powered landscaping tools.
• Maximum grant per project up to 40 % of eligible costs (55 % for certain landscaping equipment) with specific caps for each equipment type.
• Applications are accepted starting 11 March 2024 and must be submitted by 30 June 2027 or until the fund pool is exhausted.
