Description

The Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) is seeking sources with the capability and interest to provide the assembly service for a Modular Autonomous Thin Film Robotic Laboratory. The system should be able to autonomously prepare libraries of solution-deposited thin films on rigid substrate coupon samples with systematically varied discrete material and process parameters. The system will comprise multiple lockable, wheeled tables for transferring to different laboratories and experimental environments. The primary table will include a primary robotic process station, and additional interchangeable tables will support ancillary process or characterization stations. The system must include at least two robots: a primary multi-axis robot for handling samples and solutions, and transfer robots for transferring samples between staging areas on adjacent tables. Some key requirements for the system include: * The ability to handle samples with rectangular projected areas within the range of 10 mm to 25 mm on a side * The ability to handle samples with thicknesses between 200 and 800 micrometers * The ability to precisely and accurately position and handle samples and solutions * The inclusion of peripherals such as controllers, pumps, motors, racks, cartridges, stands, clamps, balances, and other auxiliary equipment * The ability to support weights of at least 100 kg * The ability to sustain a slight positive pressure of pure nitrogen in fully enclosed working areas * The inclusion of a programming interface that is open and documented, and allows for interoperability with third-party robots and instruments.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific budget or pricing information. However, based on the complexity and scope of the project, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the system will require significant design, development, and testing efforts, as well as the provision of peripherals and auxiliary equipment. The actual budget may be higher or lower, depending on the specifics of the proposal and the vendor's pricing. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the vendor's experience and expertise in similar projects, the level of customization required, and the complexity of the system's design and integration.
