Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is renewing the Integrative Neuroscience Initiative on Alcoholism (INIA) to support two collaborative research consortia that will study brain-body homeostatic dysregulation and its relationship to excessive alcohol drinking and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) phenotypes. The initiative aims to promote innovation, rigor, and reproducibility in research by adapting advanced tools and technologies to examine brain structure and function. The consortia will consist of administrative and resource cores, as well as individual research projects. • The initiative will focus on hypothesis-centered research on interactions between alcohol and other relevant causal influences. • The research will aim to identify translatable markers and mechanisms to support future prevention and intervention efforts. • The initiative will utilize cooperative agreement mechanisms and the U01 activity code. • Applications are not being solicited at this time, but potential applicants are encouraged to begin developing meaningful collaborations and responsive projects.
