The Space Systems Command (SSC) is seeking information from industry regarding space-based, wide field of view (WFOV) optical capability for a future geo-based surveillance architecture. The Government is interested in sensors capable of detecting resident space objects at 14.5 visual magnitude, with special interest in sensors capable of detection at 16+ visual magnitude. The RFI is focused on surveying industry capabilities and determining a pool of vendors that may compete for a study, design, and/or sensor build.
Some key points of interest include:
• Detection of resident space objects at 14.5 visual magnitude
• Detection at 16+ visual magnitude at a solar exclusion angle of 60 degrees from sensor boresight
• Searching a solid angle 40 degrees in right ascension by +/- 15 degrees declination in 30 minutes or less
• Recent demonstrated success with low/moderate cost, build/production of sensors
• High Technology Readiness Level (TRL) products and services, as well as re-use opportunities
