Description
The Department of Fish and Game is seeking quotes for a herring test fishery in Sitka Sound. The successful bidder will be responsible for harvesting herring with purse seine gear and providing a vessel, crew, and equipment. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The project is expected to last from November 3, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
• The bidder must have prior experience fishing in the location and must supply a fishing vessel equipped with a refrigerated sea water system and a minimum fish hold capacity of 25 tons.
• The bidder must have a current CFEC permit for the Southeast Alaska Herring Roe Purse Seine Fishery or the Southeast Alaska Herring Winter Food and Bait Fishery.
• The bidder must provide all personal and fishing-related expenses, including food, fuel, crew, and living arrangements.
• The State of Alaska will be paid at the base price for any overages of herring above the original quote amount up to 10%, and two times the base price for any herring that exceeds 10% of the original bid.
