The National Park Service intends to award a single-source cooperative agreement to the Association for the Study of African American Life and History for a project titled "Buffalo Soldiers and their Role in the National Park Service Annotate Bibliography and Historic Context Study." The project aims to develop an annotated bibliography and historic context study of the Buffalo Soldiers in the early stewardship of national parks and their greater contributions to African American military service following the Civil War. The project will involve identifying relevant archival repositories, consulting primary and secondary sources, and compiling information to highlight the lives and experiences of the Buffalo Soldiers. The project's objectives include providing the foundation for NPS interpretation, education, outreach, and stewardship related to the Buffalo Soldiers.
