Description

The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to Building Bridges Across the River for the 2018 Anacostia River Festival. The festival will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Anacostia Park and the Year of the Anacostia, with activities including boating, fishing workshops, hands-on art projects, musical performances, and bike parades. The goal is to raise awareness of the Anacostia River and its natural and recreational resources, and to encourage District residents and tourists to explore communities and parks east of the Anacostia River. • The festival will be held from April 2018, with a total anticipated award amount of $45,000. • The recipient will be responsible for organizing, promoting, and presenting the festival, as well as managing logistics and obtaining necessary permits. • The National Park Service will provide funding, interpretive rangers, and other personnel to support the festival. • The project aims to increase community use and public awareness of Anacostia Park and the Anacostia River, and to promote the Year of the Anacostia campaign. • The festival will also serve as a premier event for the 2018 National Cherry Blossom Festival and will help to foster stronger community relationships with the park.
