Description

The California Wildlife Conservation Board’s Stream Flow Enhancement Program (SFEP) provides grant funding to nonprofit, public agency, tribal, and other eligible entities for projects that increase, protect, or restore stream flows to benefit fish, wildlife, and ecosystem resilience. Funding priorities include measurable flow‑increase implementations, permanent in‑stream flow dedications, watershed‑scale approaches, salmonid‑critical watersheds, project completions, and scientific evaluations. Eligible activities span planning, scientific studies, implementation, and acquisition, with a preference for projects that enhance outflows in the Sacramento‑San Joaquin Delta. The program offers up to $30 million in total funding, with awards determined on a “continuous” basis and a performance period ending June 30 2027. Cost‑share is not required but can improve scoring.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The program’s total budget is $30 million, with the number of awards listed as “Dependent.” Assuming a typical grant size for watershed projects ranges from $0.5 million to $5 million, the client could expect to earn anywhere within that band per award. Larger, multi‑year implementation projects could push the high end, while smaller scientific studies or planning grants would sit near the low end.
