Sole Source Contract for Modernization of Elevator

The Northeastern Technical College intends to enter into a sole source contract with TK Elevator Corporation for the modernization of their elevator. The elevator was originally installed by Dover Elevator in 1999 and was subsequently rebranded as Thyssenkrupp Elevator in 2001 and then as TK Elevator in 2023. TK Elevator has developed a proprietary modernization package specifically for Dover DMC hydraulic elevator systems, which is not available from other vendors. The package includes a controller, power unit, door equipment, fixtures, and safety devices engineered to match the original system design. • The contract amount is $95,479.65. • The modernization package is proprietary to TK Elevator and is not manufactured, distributed, or available to any other elevator contractor. • Other elevator companies do not have access to this proprietary material package and would be required to redesign or retrofit the system using non-proprietary material, increasing risk, cost, and structural modification requirements.
