The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to the National Park Trust for the Buddy Bison Fishing Clinic School Program. The program aims to enhance recreational fishing and other public uses of aquatic resources on public lands by hosting fishing clinics through the NPT Buddy Bison Program. The project goals include increasing access to fishing locations, increasing public awareness and understanding of sound fishing and conservation practices, and facilitating the learning of fundamental fishing skills and outdoor ethics. The project objectives include engaging approximately 480 young anglers by hosting 4 clinics in/near national parks or other public lands before August 30, 2020, and increasing understanding, appreciation, and awareness of NPS aquatic resources. The key tasks include selecting community venues, establishing a planning team, identifying and engaging with key event partners and sponsors, recruiting event volunteers, and scheduling and confirming dates with parks, partners, volunteers, etc.
• The project will be implemented in possible locations such as Channel Island National Park, Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail, Washington D.C. area national parks sites, and Mississippi National River and Recreation Area.
• The project will provide opportunities for young people to learn about fishing and conservation practices.
• The project will promote the NPS Junior Ranger Program and provide opportunities for young people to participate in outdoor activities.
• The project will be evaluated based on its success in achieving its goals and objectives.
• The project will be completed by December 31, 2021.
