Description

Nevada State University is seeking a qualified architectural and engineering firm to provide professional services in the design of an armored channel/berm system, associated drainage facilities, and a mass grading plan. The improvements will provide 100-year storm event flood protection for the entire campus and prepare the site for future development. The project includes identification of on-site mineral rights suitable for commercial extraction during the grading process, with proceeds from the extraction funding the construction of the channel/berm. The selected firm will be responsible for conducting environmental assessments, geotechnical investigations, drainage studies, and berm design, as well as preparing construction bid documents and supporting the bidding process. Some key aspects of the project include: • Conducting environmental assessments and geotechnical investigations • Designing an armored earthen drainage channel integrated into the site's natural drainage patterns • Preparing a comprehensive mass grading plan that optimizes cut and fill and accounts for long-term development objectives • Ensuring compliance with applicable local, regional, and state drainage standards • Coordinating with the City, County, and/or State regarding all scope of work to ensure compliance

Budget estimate

$5,000,000 – $20,000,000

The budget for this project is not explicitly stated, but based on the scope of work and the fact that it is a flood control project, it is likely to be a significant amount. A rough estimate could be in the range of $5 million to $20 million, considering the complexity of the project, the need for environmental assessments and geotechnical investigations, and the requirement for a comprehensive mass grading plan. However, this is a very rough estimate and the actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on various factors such as the size of the project, the materials and labor required, and the level of competition among bidders.
