Description

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is seeking a qualified contractor to locate, remove, and properly dispose of multiple abandoned boats that pose environmental and navigational hazards in state waters. The work will involve on‑site assessment, mobilization of heavy‑lift equipment, safe extraction of vessels, and transport to an authorized disposal facility in compliance with state and federal environmental regulations. Contractors must demonstrate experience with marine salvage, hazardous material handling, and waste disposal permitting. • Identify and inventory each abandoned boat on designated water bodies. • Mobilize cranes, barges, and other marine removal equipment to safely extract vessels. • Transport and dispose of boats at certified recycling or disposal sites, providing all required documentation and certifications.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

Based on typical costs for marine salvage and disposal, each abandoned boat can range from $5,000 (small, uncomplicated vessels) to $20,000 (large or contaminated vessels). Assuming the agency needs to remove between 5 and 10 boats, the total contract value would likely fall between $50,000 and $200,000. This estimate accounts for equipment mobilization, labor, disposal fees, environmental permitting, and any required hazardous‑material handling.
