RFI: Excitation Laser for Spectroscopy System

The US Air Force Academy is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for a nanosecond Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The equipment will serve as the excitation source for an existing Edinburgh Instruments LP980 spectrometer. The laser must meet specific salient characteristics, including system compatibility, pulse energies, beam diameter, harmonic generation, optics, repetition rate and duration, flashlamp requirements, cooling, power, and delivery. • The laser must be fully compatible with the existing Edinburgh Instruments LP980 spectrometer. • The laser must have a minimum pulse energy of 850 mJ at 1064 nm, 430 mJ at 532 nm, and 230 mJ at 355 nm. • The laser must have a beam diameter of 8 to 10 mm. • The laser must include detachable, temperature-stabilized harmonic generation modules. • The laser must include wavelength separation optics, a beam dump, and a beam attenuator. • The laser must have a pulse repetition rate of 10 Hz and pulse durations of 3-6 ns. • The laser must have a flashlamp with a 100 million shots warranty and easy access for replacement. • The laser must utilize water-to-air cooling and operate on a standard 110 V power requirement. • The laser must be delivered to the US Air Force Academy, CO 80840.
