Description

The Public Scholars program encourages non-academic writers to deepen their engagement with the humanities by strengthening the research underlying their books, and it encourages academic writers in the humanities to communicate the significance of their research to the broadest possible range of readers. The program supports individual scholars pursuing projects that embody exceptional humanistic research, rigorous analysis, and clear writing. Projects may be at any stage of development and may be based on original research or provide a synthesis of ideas. Some key points to consider for this opportunity include: • The program is open to individual scholars, including independent scholars and junior scholars. • The program supports research in American history and culture and Western civilization. • The program provides a stipend of $5,000 per month for full-time work. • The period of performance must start on the first day of a month and end on the last day of a month. • Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov. • The program has specific eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship or foreign nationality with at least three years of residence in the United States. • The program has specific application requirements, including a project narrative, work plan, bibliography, and résumé.
