Design-Build Services Independence GO Bond FY27 Sidewalks to Schools - Project Number 542602-2

The City of Independence is seeking design-build services for the Independence GO Bond FY27 Sidewalks to Schools Project. The project involves designing and constructing new and existing sidewalks for two elementary schools, one in the Independence School District and one in the Fort Osage School District. The selected design-build team will be responsible for performing all design and construction activities, including survey, geotechnical investigation, traffic/pedestrian studies, utility relocation, environmental investigations, and complete construction services. The project has an estimated budget of $2.5 million and is expected to be substantially completed by the end of 2027. • The project will be delivered over two main phases, preconstruction and construction phases. • The City will use a two-step procurement process to hire a design-build team. • The selected design-build team will be asked to participate in at least two public meetings with City staff to present the initial plans to the public. • All new sidewalks, curb ramps, and crosswalks shall be designed in accordance with current ADA Standards for Accessible Design and current Proposed Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG). • The City will handle any right of way acquisitions that may be needed to construct the project.
