Intent to Sole Source, PLC Components and Networking Equipment

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, intends to issue an order on a Sole Source basis to Rockwell Automation Inc for Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLC) and networking equipment. The District's only option is to purchase the products from Rockwell Automation's Government Business Division to maintain the original manufacturer's warranty and licensing for existing Allen-Bradley 5380 controllers. The products are necessary for the control of and human interface with the current operating projects control systems. • The products include Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLC) and networking equipment. • The District has standardized Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) with Allen Bradley products. • The use of common hardware and software across multiple control systems will increase personnel efficiency. • The products are used in the facility's operations and maintenance programs and processes. • The procurement of a class J&A will eliminate future labor expenses associated with the continued collective purchases of Allen Bradley products.
