University of Connecticut is seeking qualified providers to deliver a comprehensive Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) for the 2027‑28 academic year and beyond, with an optional athlete‑specific plan. The contract will be awarded to one or more insurers/brokers who can meet detailed minimum coverage, network, and administrative requirements, provide robust claims processing, reporting, on‑site support, and adhere to extensive state‑wide compliance and data‑privacy obligations. • Must furnish a PPO health plan meeting specified deductibles, coinsurance, out‑of‑pocket caps, unlimited benefit limits, and international student coverage. • Requires detailed staffing, reporting (weekly, monthly, semester), claims‑processing (≤5 days response, ≤30 days reimbursement) and penalty provisions for delayed payments. • Includes optional broker services; the university encourages participation from small, minority‑, women‑, and disability‑owned businesses. • Contract term: 1‑year with up to four 1‑year extensions (maximum five years). • No budget ceiling is published; premiums are to be proposed (excluding a university‑determined administrative fee).
