The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to Groundwork USA for the Groundwork Buffalo Capacity Building project. The project aims to support the development of the Groundwork Network of community-based organizations that engage communities in the reuse of brownfield and other derelict lands for recreation, conservation, economic development, and other community benefits. The project objectives include supporting Groundwork USA in the development of the Groundwork Network, building the capacity of the Groundwork Network to coordinate community engagement and youth programming, and providing organizational and project assistance to the Trusts. The project will also focus on youth programming, including the development of Green Teams and Youth Corps, and will provide opportunities for youth to learn green job skills through service learning experiences.
• The project will support the development and organizational sustainability of local Groundwork Trust organizations.
• The project will motivate youth to become involved in natural, cultural, and historical resource protection.
• The project will assist in the creation, promotion, facilitation, and improvement of the public's understanding of natural, cultural, historic, recreational, and other aspects of areas such as ecological conservation areas and state and local parks.
