Forensic Psychiatrist for Mississippi State Hospital

The Mississippi State Hospital is seeking to hire up to two Forensic Psychiatrists to provide care via telemedicine link to inpatient forensic psychiatric patients. The selected candidates will work an average of 12-26 hours per week, with a total of not more than 1,352 hours per year, at a contract rate of $375.00 per hour. The contract period will be approximately 4 years, from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2030. The ideal candidate will have an active, unrestricted Mississippi License to practice medicine, active board certification in general psychiatry and forensic psychiatry, and previous experience working with high-risk seriously mentally ill patients. • Minimum qualifications include active, unrestricted Mississippi License to practice medicine • Active board certification in general psychiatry and forensic psychiatry • Previous experience working with high-risk seriously mentally ill patients • Previous experience supervising psychiatric nurse practitioners in inpatient settings • Verifiable Doctor of Medicine Degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from an accredited medical school • Unrestricted DEA certificate
