Canine Thermal Model and Monitor (CTMM)

The Canine Thermal Model and Monitor (CTMM) effort seeks to reduce heat injuries in Military Working Dogs (MWDs) through near real-time monitoring of MWD core body temperature. The CTMM will leverage data collected from this canine thermal monitor along with environmental conditions, measured activity level, and geolocation data to optimize tactical deployment, mitigate environmental casualties, and preserve these high-value combat assets. The key features of the CTMM include: • Monitoring core body temperature • Tracking environmental conditions such as humidity and temperature • Measuring activity level and geolocation data • Providing real-time data to handlers • Optimizing tactical deployment and mitigating environmental casualties The RFI seeks information on canine thermal and environmental monitors and enhanced engineering solutions to inform and guide CTMM development and fielding.
