Description

The City of Columbus is seeking a qualified contractor to renovate and expand two compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations – one at Groves Road (4211 Groves Rd) and an alternate at Krieger Court (5115 Krieger Ct). The scope includes replacing two existing compressors, installing a third compressor, constructing a 331 sf control building, and providing associated mechanical, electrical, civil, and safety work. The contract is a fixed‑price, single‑prime award with a 300‑day construction schedule, requiring compliance with prevailing‑wage, bonding, insurance, and pre‑qualification requirements for contracts over $500,000. The bidder must submit all required forms (Bid Affidavit, Pre‑Qualification, etc.) via BidExpress, and all work must be completed without disrupting existing CNG operations except during approved shutdown periods. • Replace two compressors and install a third compressor at the Groves station. • Build a new 331 sf utility‑class control house (Occupancy Group U, Type IIB). • Provide all civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire‑protection work, including underground piping, conduit, and control systems. • Meet strict safety, environmental, and code requirements (OSHA, NFPA, Ohio Building Code, prevailing‑wage). • Submit electronic bids by 2 Nov 2026; pre‑bid conference on 19 Oct 2026; questions due 26 Oct 2026.

Budget estimate

$1,500,000 – $4,000,000

Based on the scope—replacement of multiple compressors, construction of a new 331 sf building, extensive civil, mechanical, and electrical work, and the inclusion of a $300,000 contingency—the total contract value is likely in the mid‑single‑digit millions. A reasonable ballpark for the award amount would be between $1.5 million and $4 million, depending on equipment specifications, labor rates, and contingency usage.
