Description
The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) is hosting a Proposers’ Day for the Restorative & health-Enhancing Sleep Time (REST) program. The program aims to transform how poor sleep is measured and treated by enabling objective, home-based, closed-loop technologies that detect health-relevant features of sleep and respond to them in real time. The REST program will solicit proposals in two Technical Areas: TA1, which focuses on development of validated, in-home systems for objective measurement of sleep-relevant physiology, diagnosis of poor sleep centered on insomnia, and mechanistic classification of poor sleep; and TA2, which focuses on development of noninvasive, closed-loop systems that adapt intervention to the user’s sleep state and physiology in real time to improve sleep quality and treat insomnia.
Some key aspects of the program include:
• Development of objective, personalized, and adaptive sleep health technologies
• Emphasis on insomnia, with potential for addressing other sleep disorders
• Expected teaming arrangements across multiple domains, including sleep medicine, wearable device development, AI/ML, and human factors engineering
• Anticipated publication of an Innovative Solutions Opening (ISO) for the REST program on or about June 16, 2026
• A Proposers’ Day event on July 13, 2026, to provide information and facilitate teaming discussions among potential proposers
