Lower Harris Creek Interceptor Improvements

The City of Raleigh is seeking a qualified firm to provide professional engineering services for the design of the Lower Harris Creek Interceptor. The project involves replacing and paralleling approximately 21,495 linear feet of 30” sanitary sewer with new 30” pipe to increase capacity, reduce the risk of sewer surcharge, and address needed repairs. The scope of services includes expedited preliminary engineering services, wetland and stream delineation, geotechnical evaluation, subsurface utility exploration, design and permitting of sewer interceptor, traffic control plan, easement plat preparation, bid phase services, construction administration services, and as-built survey and plans. • The project is expected to mitigate a significant number of modeled sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and pipe surcharges. • The project addresses a moderate system failure risk and condition-based rehabilitation and replacement needs. • The project maintains the customer level of service for a regional area of the overall Raleigh Water service area. • The project reduces the potential for corrective maintenance response and repairs. • The project is not urgent, but it is recommended to move forward to stay ahead of the modeled potential 2025 wet weather flow system capacity issues.
