The Logistics Technology Research (LTR) Program is a research and development program sponsored by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to develop new capabilities and improved DLA processes to sustain Department of Defense (DOD) weapon systems. The program seeks innovative solutions to problems faced by DLA's customers, particularly in the areas of planning, procurement, order fulfillment, and technical/quality. The program will conduct short-term projects (STPs) to develop and demonstrate capabilities with beneficial application across one or more DLA Major Subordinate Commands (MSCs) or DLA HQ Process Owners.
• The program will focus on emerging technologies such as digital engineering, artificial intelligence, and robotic process automation to enhance part, component, and logistical product data granularity, availability, and interoperability.
• The program will also focus on building a digital twin of DLA's business processes to simulate and predict business outcomes.
• The program will provide a standards-based open system IT infrastructure to enable the digital thread, distributed manufacturing, and advanced cybersecurity.
• The program will prepare the workforce for change management and strategic communications necessary to transform DLA's use of digital data.
