Description

The Defense Health Agency Contracting Activity (DHACA) is issuing a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a Surgical Sterilizer to be used in deployed dentistry, veterinary, medical, and laboratory sets. The new surgical sterilizer must meet the detailed specifications provided in the document. Key characteristics of the sterilizer include FDA clearance, the ability to sterilize all surgical instrumentations, a chamber size of 12.0” dia. x 23.5” long, and an operating temperature range of 35°F to 130°F. The vendor will be required to provide a one-year manufacturer warranty, support the device for a minimum of five years, and ensure parts are available for an additional five years. • The device must be cleared by the FDA with a 510(k) approval if it is a Class II medical device. • The device must be able to sterilize all surgical instrumentations necessary to perform clinical procedures and surgeries. • The device must have a chamber size of 12.0” dia. x 23.5” long. • The device must have an operating temperature range of 35°F to 130°F. • The device must have a relative humidity of 80%, non-condensing. • The device must be configured in one or multiple reusable hardened transport cases with protective foam. • The vendor must provide a comprehensive list of all repair parts, clearly identifying those deemed high-failure items.

Budget estimate

$35,500,000 – $50,000,000

Estimating the budget for this opportunity is challenging without a clear indication of the contract value. However, considering the government's intention to procure an estimated 711 surgical sterilizers over a period of up to five years, and assuming an average cost of $50,000 per unit (which could vary widely depending on the device's complexity and features), the total contract value could be in the range of $35.5 million to $50 million or more, depending on the options exercised and the actual cost per unit. Factors influencing the likely payment range include the device's technical specifications, the vendor's production costs, market conditions, and the government's budget allocations.
