Description

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) seeks quotations for a commercially available microencapsulation fluidics system to enable the creation of alginate‑encapsulated human cell microtissues, organoids, and spheroids for translational toxicology research. The solicitation calls for a complete hardware package—including microfluidic modules, pumps, droplet‑generation components, a dedicated computer, and software—plus on‑site installation and training at the NIEHS facility in Research Triangle Park, NC. The system must operate independently of NIEHS IT infrastructure and be capable of reproducibly mixing alginate with human cell suspensions to generate droplets that form stable capsules. Delivery is required by September 30 2026, with installation and training to be completed in Fall 2026. The award will be a firm‑fixed‑price purchase order evaluated on technical acceptability, price, and responsibility. • Required system: microfluidic platform for alginate‑cell encapsulation, including hardware, software, computer, installation, and training. • Delivery location: NIEHS, Rall Building 101, Labs E144‑146, RTP, NC 27709. • Delivery deadline: 30 Sept 2026; installation/training by Fall 2026. • Funding: Firm‑fixed‑price, NAICS 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing). • Evaluation criteria: mandatory technical compliance, fair and reasonable price, contractor responsibility. • Submission deadline: 12:00 pm ET, 29 Sept 2026 (electronic submission to Contract Specialist Jordan Neal). • Required certifications: SAM registration.

Budget estimate

$250,000 – $500,000

No contract value is disclosed in the solicitation. Based on comparable high‑end microfluidic and lab‑instrument purchases, a complete system with hardware, software, installation, and training typically ranges from $250,000 to $500,000. The estimate accounts for the specialized nature of the equipment, the need for on‑site integration, and the inclusion of training and warranty support.
