Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a solution for a 1033 nm laser and a 1068 nm laser for the IMS project Reimagining Thermal Radiation. The lasers must meet specific technical specifications, including producing a continuous wave single frequency output at any wavelength between 1033.2 nm to 1033.6 nm and 1068.35 nm to 1068.75 nm, respectively. The lasers must also have a minimal thermal tuning, fast tuning via piezo, and laser frequency linewidth. The contractor must provide electronics for controlling the laser's current, temperature, and tuning piezo, as well as software and reference manuals required for operation. • The lasers must meet or exceed the technical specifications identified in the notice. • The contractor must provide a complete name of their company, address, name of contact for follow-up questions, their email, their phone number, and their company's Unique Entity ID (UEI) if registered in SAM. • The contractor must provide details about what their company is capable of providing that meets or exceeds NIST's minimum requirements. • The contractor must indicate whether their company is a small business or other than small business.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate without more information about the specific requirements and the number of units to be purchased. However, based on the technical specifications and the fact that NIST is seeking sources for two high-precision lasers, the budget could be substantial. A rough estimate for the cost of two high-precision lasers could be in the range of $50,000 to $500,000, depending on the complexity of the design, the materials used, and the manufacturing process. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the number of units to be purchased, the complexity of the design, and the manufacturing process.
