Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a contractor to provide controlled substance destruction services for the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System. The contractor will be responsible for collecting and destroying controlled substances, including Schedule II-V medications, from the VA pharmacy. The contractor must be a DEA-licensed reverse distributor and comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The contract will include on-site pick-ups at the VA pharmacy, and the contractor must provide all necessary supplies and equipment. The contractor must also provide education and training on software products used and ensure confidentiality and compliance with security statutes, including HIPAA. Key requirements include: • Providing routine software updates, firmware upgrades, and hardware upkeep for passive RTLS sensors, tags, and tracking systems. • Ensuring personnel hold valid manufacturer certifications required to work on specialized medical and enterprise logistics tracking components. • Adhering strictly to VA information security, network connectivity, and patient safety privacy mandates. • Providing a representative to perform duties for each on-site pick-up of expired or unusable controlled medications at the VA pharmacy. • Accommodating up to 6 pick-ups per period of performance based on VA pharmacy needs.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this contract is not explicitly stated in the document. However, considering the scope of work, which includes on-site pick-ups, destruction of controlled substances, and provision of necessary supplies and equipment, a rough estimate for the annual contract value could be in the range of $50,000 to $200,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contractor will provide services for a single location, the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System, and that the frequency of on-site pick-ups will be quarterly. The actual budget may vary depending on the contractor's fees, the volume of controlled substances to be destroyed, and other factors.
