Description

The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking qualified vendors to provide asbestos remediation services in Petersburg and Sitka, Alaska. The project consists of two scopes: SCOPE 1, which involves removing hazardous materials from 11 existing family housing units in Petersburg, and SCOPE 2, which involves removing hazardous materials from 15 existing family housing units in Sitka. The work includes asbestos abatement, replacement of finishes, trim work, paint, doors, countertops, cabinetry, flooring, trim, plumbing fixtures, heating unit covers, exhaust fans, electrical outlets, electrical switches, light fixtures, and other incidental related items. The contractor is expected to secure temporary lodging for residents during construction and perform work on 1-2 buildings at a time. Key points to consider: • The project requires experience with hazardous material abatement, particularly ACM removal. • The contractor must have experience with residential exterior renovations and boiler replacement. • The ability to manage phased construction with temporary lodging arrangements for residents is necessary. • The contractor must have the capacity to complete the project within the required timeline and budget constraints. • The project consists of two scopes, each with a different period of performance: 475 days for SCOPE 1 and 720 days for SCOPE 2.

Budget estimate

$5,000,000 – $15,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the scope of work and the periods of performance. For SCOPE 1, the project involves removing hazardous materials from 11 existing family housing units, and for SCOPE 2, it involves removing hazardous materials from 15 existing family housing units. Considering the complexity of the project, the cost of asbestos remediation services, and the need for temporary lodging arrangements, a rough estimate for the total budget could be between $5 million and $15 million. This estimation is based on the assumption that the cost per unit will be around $200,000 to $500,000, considering the scope of work and the need for specialized services.
