The Town of Chesapeake Beach is seeking proposals for the modification of existing handrails on the catwalks for its three aeration basins at the Chesapeake Beach Water Reclamation Treatment Plant (WRTP). The project involves designing, fabricating, and installing removable handrails to facilitate the removal of basin mixers for service. The handrails must be constructed of welded 1 ½” SCH40 extruded aluminum pipe and must meet OSHA standards for guardrail systems. The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, transportation, tools, supplies, and equipment necessary for the removal of existing handrails and installation of new removable handrails. Some key points to consider include:
• The WRTP is a 1.5 MGD water reclamation treatment plant with three aeration basins.
• The current handrails are fixed and do not allow for the removal of basin mixers for service.
• The contractor must provide a certificate of insurance naming the Town as an additional insured.
• The contractor must provide all necessary materials, labor, and tools for completion of the work.
• The contractor must give updates and progress reports to the WRTP Superintendent or designee daily.
• All work shall be guaranteed for a minimum of one year from acceptance by the Town.
