The Personal Responsibility Education Innovative Strategies (PREIS) program supports cooperative agreement projects with funding to implement and test the effectiveness of innovative, adolescent pregnancy prevention strategies and interventions among high-risk and vulnerable youth populations. The program has four main objectives: to test innovative approaches, evaluate the innovation, create intervention manuals, and share knowledge. The target population includes youth who face a higher risk of pregnancy, such as those in foster care or child welfare settings, victims of trafficking, and youth with HIV/AIDS. Projects must address at least three of the six Adulthood Preparation Subjects (APS) and conduct rigorous impact evaluations using randomized controlled trials or quasi-experimental design.
• The program focuses on youth aged 10-19, with an emphasis on those at higher risk of pregnancy.
• Projects must use new or innovative approaches to reach high-risk youth.
• Interventions must be based on a solid theoretical framework and have promising evidence of effectiveness.
• Evaluation must be conducted by an independent, third-party evaluator.
• Projects must participate in Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (APP) evaluation support and technical assistance.
• Continuous staff coordination and management, participant engagement and satisfaction, and stakeholder support are required throughout the intervention.
