The Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking bids for the closure of five mine portals behind the Collins residence in Letcher County. The project involves installing standard wildlife closures, hoe ramming the top of the portals, grading the access road, and installing subdrain pipe to help with drainage. The project aims to prevent further water damage to the Collins barn. Key aspects of the project include: • Closing five mine portals • Installing five mine portal standard wildlife closures • Hoe ramming the top of all five mine portals • Grading the access road and pulling ditches • Installing 250 LF of 8-inch subdrain pipe behind the barn • Installing 50 LF of 8-inch HDPE pipe to divert water down the hill • Creating a class two ditch with a 2-foot bottom, 250 feet long The project limits will be a total of 5.27 Acres, with a maximum total area to be disturbed of 2.78 Acres.
