Design Criteria Professional Services - Kingsfield Road Fire Station

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Design Criteria Professional (DCP) to provide professional services for the New Kingsfield Road Fire Station Project. The selected DCP Consultant will be responsible for preparing the Design Criteria Package, serving as the County's representative during the selection of the Design-Builder, and evaluating the completed project for conformance with the approved design criteria. The project involves the design and construction of a new fire station, including apparatus bays, living and sleeping quarters, fitness facilities, training areas, administrative areas, and decontamination and contamination control measures. The DCP Consultant should have experience in preparing design criteria packages for public safety or other governmental facilities and meet all minimum qualifications established within the Request for Letters of Interest (RLI). Key considerations include vehicular circulation, proximity to primary response routes, visibility, and potential for future expansion. The County is looking for a firm that can demonstrate a design approach that balances operational efficiency, firefighter health and wellness, and long-term facility resiliency. Some of the key services required include: • Preparing the Design Criteria Package • Serving as the County's representative during the selection of the Design-Builder • Evaluating the completed project for conformance with the approved design criteria • Coordinating with Northwest Florida agencies to obtain design approvals and permitting • Providing examples of recent fire stations or comparable public safety facilities designed within the past five years • Describing the firm's experience and approach in addressing hardened construction, redundancy of critical systems, and continuity of operations during and after severe weather events.
