Project to Increase Compliance with Mexican Labor Law and International Labor Standards by the Tomato and Chile Pepper Sectors in Mexico

The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) intends to award a cooperative agreement to an organization to increase private sector stakeholders’ accountability to uphold core labor standards consistent with Mexican labor law and the USMCA Labor Chapter, specifically regarding child labor, forced labor, and acceptable conditions of work in the tomato and chile pepper supply chains in Mexico. The project aims to increase compliance with labor laws related to child labor, forced labor, and acceptable conditions of work, and to increase the application of effective and sustainable compliance and remediation systems in the tomato and chile pepper supply chains, including in the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, and Chihuahua. • The project will focus on the tomato and chile pepper supply chains in Mexico. • The project aims to increase compliance with labor laws related to child labor, forced labor, and acceptable conditions of work. • The project will increase the application of effective and sustainable compliance and remediation systems. • The project will be implemented in the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, and Chihuahua. • The project is expected to be funded through a cooperative agreement.
