GO Bond FY26 Sidewalks to Schools

The City of Independence is seeking professional design-build services for the Independence GO Bond FY26 Sidewalks to Schools Project. The project involves the design and construction of new and existing sidewalks for seven schools in the Independence and Fort Osage school districts. The selected design-build team will be responsible for performing all design and construction activities, including survey, geotechnical investigation, traffic/pedestrian studies, utility relocation, environmental investigations, and complete construction services. The project has an estimated budget of $2.5 million and is required to be substantially completed by the end of the 2026 calendar year. • The project will be delivered over two main phases, preconstruction and construction phases. • The City will handle any right of way acquisitions that may be needed to construct the project. • The selected design-build team will be asked to participate in at least two public meetings with City staff to present the initial plans to the public and allow them to provide their review and comment on the preliminary plans. • All new sidewalks, curb ramps, and crosswalks shall be designed in accordance with current ADA Standards for Accessible Design, current Proposed Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG), and the City of Independence, MO specifications.
