Landmarks of American History and Culture and Summer Institutes

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Lifelong Learning is accepting applications for the Landmarks of American History and Culture and Summer Institutes program. The purpose of this program is to support humanities education through professional development for K-12 teachers and higher education faculty members. The program will provide funding for residential professional development programs that convene higher education faculty or K-12 educators from across the nation to deepen their understanding of significant topics in the humanities and enrich their capacity for effective scholarship and teaching. • The program will support projects that address topics significant to humanities teaching and learning, engage important texts and other resources, and draw on sound scholarship. • The program will support projects that demonstrate a realistic, substantive, and well-planned schedule with varied activities and adequate time for reading, reflection, discussion, and application. • The program will support projects that provide for post-program engagement to strengthen the project’s impact.
