LeapFast B-FSD Additive Manufacturing Services

The opportunity is for LeapFast B-FSD Additive Manufacturing Services, where NASA intends to issue a sole source contract to LEAPFAST MANUFACTURING INC. The work involves material characterization of AA6061 deposited on top of Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) printed CP-1 aluminum using LeapFast's novel Bobbin Friction Stir Deposition (B-FSD) process. The scope of work includes NASA delivering 30 CP-1 plates to LeapFast, who will use their B-FSD process to deposit AA6061 on the plates, and then deliver 5 plates to NASA MSFC for material testing. The period of performance is expected to begin in Oct 2026 and last for 5 months. Key aspects of the job include: • Material characterization of AA6061 deposited on CP-1 aluminum • Use of LeapFast's novel Bobbin Friction Stir Deposition (B-FSD) process • Delivery of 30 CP-1 plates from NASA to LeapFast • Deposit of AA6061 on the plates using the B-FSD process • Delivery of 5 plates to NASA MSFC for material testing • Material testing and sharing of test results between LeapFast and NASA
